We will perform an initial assessment, to see if we believe you have a viable SR&ED claim. This is done via a short meeting, at the end of which we will give you our opinion. There is no charge for this consultation. Should we believe you have a valid SR&ED claim, and you engage our services, we will meet with the appropriate individuals to discuss the scope of the work and gather the required information to write the technical report. Our goal is to minimize the impact on you and your staff, since we know the value they provide in their day-to-day activities. We record our interviews (subject to your approval), which minimizes the need for follow-up. We will also prepare the costs associated with your SR&ED claim. After the claim has been submitted, the file will be reviewed by CRA, and a decision is made on the eligibility of your claim. Sometimes, but not always, they will do a technical and/or financial audit at your place of business. We believe it adds value for our technical person(s) to attend the audit, to assist in clarification. In a number of instances, we have negotiated a settlement substantially higher than that first offered by CRA. It should be noted that our record of having CRA approve client's claims "as filed" (i.e. with no financial or technical audits) is second to none in the industry. Our remuneration is on contingency and our rates are very competitive. Our rates are lower than most, since as a small company we have low overhead. Our current, and past, clients have been very pleased with our fee structure.
